Dilemmas of an Immigrant in Tech

About Me

An immigrant, techie, design geek, amateur photographer all walk into a bar... Out comes me. Mind you, I don't claim to know or do any of these things well. Except maybe immigrant, not sure how you do that badly.

Professionally, I design and architect distributed, highly-available systems. I'm certified at the associate level as an AWS Solutions Architect and at the professional level as a GCP Cloud Architect. Optimizing trade-offs between performance, cost, and scalability are right up my alley; containerized workloads and infrastructure-as-code, too. Lately, I've been exploring more in the serverless realm and re-architecting the web for serverless, ops-less architecture.

Historically, I've worked as a web developer in both front-end and back-end roles. I've also worked as a graphic designer for a brief period, it didn't hurt that I was a year's worth of credits shy of getting a BFA for it.

In my spare time, you can find me playing video games, making ice cream, mixing cocktails, reading Hacker News, planning travel, debate politics, teach programming, making fizzy drinks, networking with startups, or trekking along a trail.
